Learn how researchers who advance science, supported by organizations like the ARCS Foundation, create innovations that that can change lives.

Moderator

Paige Novak Ph –Head of Civil, Environmental, and Geo-Engineering (CEGE). She is researching the design and implementation of biologically-based remediation systems using microorganisms to treat wastewater.

The panel features the stories of University of Minnesota entrepreneurs like:

• Judee Sharon PhD
  ARCS Scholar in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry and Biophysics (BMBB)
  Co-founder of KuriBio, a startup with a nanotechnology platform that precisely delivers oncology and genetic therapies to minimize side effects to patients"
• Lizzy Crist PhD
  ARCS Scholar in Biomedical Engineering  (BME)
  She is applying the 3D tissue engineering and microfluidic disease-modeling research she developed during her Ph.D. to her work at AIM Biotech, where she helps researchers and biopharma partners use organ-on-chip platforms to create more realistic human tissue models for drug discovery and translational research.
• Natasha Wright PhD
  Assistant Professor Mechanical Engineering, developing affordable home dialysis solutions for low-resource countries globally;
• Paul Dauenhauer, PhD
  Professor Chemical Engineering, co-founder of Carba, a company that uses technology to convert waste biomass into permanent biocarbon for carbon sequestration and industrial materials.

The panelists represent a cross-section of disciplines that demonstrate how University of Minnesota research can evolve into products, companies, and solutions that improve human health and address US and global challenges.
